Soft, supple leather; gorgeous color Aug 21, 2010

I purchased this in Ruby and it is a wonderful cordovan color. The leather quality is excellent. I like the wonderful softness of the leather, and that even though the bag is rather tall, the top can be folded over a bit to help fit on the lap when sitting because it's not so stiff that it is unmanageable as some other large bags I have. The lining is a nice satiny soft material.
For my taste, the bag could be a lot smaller. However, the advantages are that it has excellent capacity, and in spite of the fact that it is only 2" deep front to back, it is easily opened wide to see all the contents. It can fit a couple average size hardback books, as well as the usual things carried. The bag itself is not too heavy, and even loaded with my personal items, is not a lot of weight on my arthritic shoulders, unless of course, I choose to carry around some of those hardback books.
There is a cell phone pocket and another pocket which could be used for a PDA on one interior wall, with a long zipper pocket on the opposite wall. There is a large exterior pocket, on the front of which is the "coin keeper," a metal rectangular device on the front which looks like signature hardware and has a slot in the top in which you can insert coins, as into a piggy bank. If you drop a coin into the slot, it falls down into the large front pocket, without unzipping the pocket. Could be handy when getting change and there is a line behind you so you can achieve a quick exit.
This is a classically lovely high quality bag, with the modern long-slung look so popular today, and I'm very pleased with it.
