Based on my good experience with the Latico Bettina NorthSouth Pocket Tote, I ordered this tote in both black and brown, and I'm very pleased with them. The Bettina Grande Square Tote is made with the same beautiful, soft, shiny distressed leather as the Bettina NorthSouth Pocket Tote, and is a similar roomy size, but the fringes and buckle detail give it a softer, more feminine appearance.

I ordered this bag in the middle of this summer. I love this bag and use everyday to my internship place. I always get compliment from stranges about my bag. However, after a while, the leather got discolored from friction with my clothes. I was expecting better leather quality from latico.

It is nice and soft. The only issue is that it is so thin!!! which makes this bag look very flat. But I guess this is because it is empty now and I will use it as my daily school bag~ lol.
I do like it:) recommend it to who want to get a big and nice school bag

Beautiful Bag but not worth full price Nov 19, 2009

I bought the red version of this bag less than two months ago from Amazon. At the time, the bag was half price. On arrival, one of the shoulder straps was not glued properly and so I had to rely exclusively on the long strap to carry my bag. I needed the bag and figured I could get it fixed myself, so I didn't worry about it. I was very happy with the bag, it's beautiful and worked well on my bike commute, that is until today. I was walking back to my office after teaching and one of the hooks that holds the long strap in place snapped in two. I now have no usable straps for the bag.
It is hard to find a leather bag that looks good at a decent price, so in my opinion the bag is still worth it at the half price, but it is definitely not worth the full $180. They do have a year warranty according to their website, but you have to pay $15 for shipping and handling, which I find ridiculous. I expected a bag that could carry my netbook and papers, not something that I have to get fixed only two months in.

A warning to any customer buying a latico bag: I was given mine as a gift, and the surface simply began to peel off when I used it the first time, getting all over my clothes and fingers. A terrible disappointment, as the bag was lovely looking. Because of a company policy, I was unable to return it.
