5Not mine, but my wife loves it  Oct 16, 2008
By David C. Reed
Okay, a guy buying a purse for his wife may strike many as completely foolish. But my wife had a tendency to buy a purse from some bargain bin, hate it, try to use it, then replace it or return it, meaning that she was buying 3-4 purses a year and hating all of them. I kept suggesting she just pay the extra to get a decent purse she likes, but she's Scottish, so....

A friend told me about a purse that he bought for his wife (she told him the make, size, and color). So I checked it out and bought my wife a similar one -- the red leather version of this.

She used it for three years. She still could be using it, but it was getting a little worse for wear, so I got her this model.

She says this microfiber one is lighter than the leather one and, of course, black goes with everything. Seems like a very tough microfiber, so I imagine it will last just as long. She loves the weight of it on her shoulder, the pockets and clips and means for organizing all the stuff she carries and can always find her stuff.

Shoot small. I originally got my wife the Medium one, but it was way too large (she's 5'2"). I'd guess the Extra Small would be for people up to 5'5" or so.

4not a fanny pack, but still easier on the back  Feb 09, 2008
By LKF "LKF"
I had been using a fanny pack for my purse which had a built-in wallet and eyeglass holder. So I was used to no weight on my shoulders or back. I bought the Ameribag when I couldn't find a good replacement for my old fanny pack. It requires a separate wallet and eyeglass holder, which adds weight, and my shoulder does get somewhat sore from holding the bag. However, it is much better than a regular purse slung over the shoulder. Additionally, you can lengthen the strap and wear the bag across the body to distribute the weight away from the shoulder. The bag has lots of pockets inside and out for organization. I have found I should open the zipper from the top (it goes both ways) to avoid the purse's contents from spilling out. The microfiber material is nice and doesn't show dirt. It looks more stylish than my fanny pack, and while not dressy, I don't feel like I have to change my purse if I'm going out somewhere nice.

5great bag  Mar 23, 2009
By Mary W. Comunale "todmarcom"
I love this bag. I originally bought it for a trip but now I use it everyday. I couldn't go back to my old big and unorganized purse. It is very comfortable and holds alot. It is a X small but it holds more than most purses. I definately do not need the bigger size. I am looking to buy another one in a different color.

5Love it!  Sep 10, 2010
By Oma Cathy
I purchased the x-small microfiber AmeriBag, first in lemon grass (returned - very green!), then in chocolate brown (much better) primarily to use while running errands on the weekend, but I've been using it daily. The exterior pockets are perfect for my building ID, commuter pass, and cell phone. The zip and velcro closures eliminate worry about them falling out. The interior zip pocket holds small hygiene products, such as tissues, wet wipes, aspirin, and lip balm, while several other pockets hold pens, small pad of paper, etc. The main compartment easily holds my checkbook-size wallet, a pocket planner, eyeglass case, and a larger-size paperback, with room to spare. The key clip is very convenient; no more digging around for keys. I was happy to find that this bag really does feel quite a bit lighter to carry than my old one did.

There are a couple minor drawbacks, though: the exterior pocket opposite the strap (with the logo) does not have a closure, so I don't use it, otherwise it would be another good place to put the cell phone. Also, a rubber bottom would be great. I am always searching for the ideal bag and this is the closest I've found. I am going to order a small in black to use for work.

5Very good "comfort" purse  Jul 09, 2010
By Annie Oakley (Pensacola, FL)
I have owned an identical purse in a brown color for several years. It's light weight and a very "comfortable" purse to carry about on a long day of errands, etc. I've washed the purse (delicate cycle)several times over the last 3 years. It comes out looking like new and dries overnight. I ordered this in black and a navy a few weeks later. I'm sure I will be just as happy with these in the years to come as well! Don't be deceived by the title "x-small" size. Unless you carry a huge amount of items on a day-to-day basis, the X-small is plenty large enough for the routine items women carry and resembles a regular purse rather than an over-the-shoulder backpack.
